Tonight (Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015), the McNichols Building at Denver Civic Center Park ties together painter Trine Bumiller‘s exhibition of oil paintings inspired by 100 years of Rocky Mountain National Park, the second floor exhibition celebrating rock-n-roll and metal sculpture by Kevin Robb in an event called “Night of Rock.”

“100 Paintings for 100 Years” sprang from Bumiller’s recent residency at Rocky Mountain National Park.  ”In a weak moment perhaps, shortly before the proposal was due, I decided that I would do 100 paintings,” says Bumiller, guest on the September edition of KUVO’s “Art Scene” with visual arts consultant Hilary DePolo.  ”I wasn’t sure what form that would take.”   Her oil paintings fill the third floor gallery of the McNichols Building.  The exhibit runs through Sunday, September 13.  The interview with Bumiller is posted below.

The “Night of Rock” event also includes craft beer and craft wine, a silent disco, posters, photography and guitars autographed by rock stars.   Information on tickets is available here and at www.McNicholsBuilding.com.

Music on this feature is by Count Basie, “Rocky Mountain Blues,” with vocals by Billy Valentine.
