Musicians from Eastern and Central Europe took to Jazz enthusiastically, so much so that many totalitarian governments banned it and especially the saxophone. Still they persisted, drawing on folk melodies and instruments as well as embracing the literal and metaphoric freedom that Modern Jazz has long expressed. Tune into The Jazz River, this Sunday from 5-6pm (rmt) to travel to worlds lesser known to jazz fans but ones rich in history, spirit, and innovative music. Only on KUVO Jazz!
