Spain has long inspired jazz musicians. From the Andalusias blending North Africa with Flamenco, to Galicia, the most Celtic part of the nation, jazz has gravitated towards España. It is of course due to that ineffable spirit of the Duende.  “Anything that has black sounds, as Miguel Torre said, has duende.” According to Garcia Lorca, the Duende is “the sound that everyone senses and no philosopher can explain.” It is a power.

Tune in to The Jazz River this Sunday, May 24 from 5-6 pm and get some Duende in your soul. Only on KUVO JAZZ!
