Producer Hal Willner died last month due to complication from COVID-19. Most people never heard of him. For 40 years he produced music for SNL, and had the most amazing music show—Night Music—ever on television. He issued incredible tribute records to Monk, Mingus, Walt Disney, Nino Rota (Fellini’s composer), as well as records of Hunter S. Thompson, Edgar Allen Poe and even Pirate Ballads. By all accounts a weirdly wonderful cat who knew everyone and got everyone to record on his projects.

Tune in to The Jazz River on Sunday, May 10, from 5-6pm to learn and appreciate his musical legacy only on KUVO JAZZ.
