Kayla Rae
A KUVO JAZZ and THE DROP 104.7 Project
Kayla Rae grew up in Colorado Springs, the middle of five kids raised by a single mother, where music quickly became her safe place and compass.
Inspired by the voices of Whitney Houston, Aaliyah, and SWV, she began writing and recording songs as a teenager, sharing them online and dreaming of stages bigger than her bedroom. That early determination followed her to Denver, where she built her craft in local clubs and small shows, learning to turn setbacks into fuel.
Her persistence paid off. Over time, Kayla Rae went from playing to near-empty rooms to sharing stages with artists like Wiz Khalifa, Doja Cat, and Tyga. In 2020 she released her debut EP, Pressure, a collection of songs that balanced confidence and vulnerability, love and heartbreak. The record revealed an artist unafraid to show both her strength and her scars, earning her recognition as one of Denver’s brightest new voices in R&B.
Kayla Rae’s story is one of resilience and authenticity. Whether on her soulful single Blue or in electrifying live performances, she channels the highs and lows of her journey into music that feels deeply human. For her, success isn’t about chasing trends, it’s about truth, connection, and carving out a space where her voice can shine its brightest.
