KUVO JAZZ Legacy

Legacy

Our Community

You hear us say it every day, “Community.” Inside that one word resides listeners and not-yet-listeners, members, underwriters and foundations who support this work financially, volunteers who spend literal blood and sweat to keep KUVO JAZZ visible, on-air hosts to keep the musical connection strong and producers, engineers and support staff behind the scenes. All pulling together in the same direction.

For 40 years. That’s unity. That’s community.

Our Friends

Our organization took a deep dive in working towards our need to let our community know that they are important to us. Deeper relationships, meaningful interactions, engaging neighbors across the state. Investing in ongoing feedback, to understand what is important to our friends. We started out with a goal of reaching 150,00 new friends around Colorado back in 2019 with big dreams of bringing in and engaging 500,000 friends by 2024. By 2023, we surpassed our goal and connected with 632,139 friends. Today we are close to having a million friends. KUVO benefits from these connections, and we welcome the commitment of RMPM to shout out that KUVO is in the house. We are doing our best to know you.

KUVO Remembers – Honoring the Past

KUVO Remembers – Honoring the Past is a visual celebration of the lives and lasting impact of KUVO volunteers, staff, and on-air hosts who have passed away. Each of them shared their talents, time, and dedication to bring KUVO’s remarkable music to listeners around the world.

Our Staff

Hosts gather with staff

It’s a testament to talent, teamwork, and dedication that has shaped the station’s identity and impact for 40 Years. Within the walls of the Buell Media Center, are the radio teams of daytime hosts, and weekend volunteer hosts, and the support staff who guide you every day with music and information. An entire marketing department, underwriters, philanthropy, membership, volunteers, technical, production, building support, and a digital team that are making new connections with you every day. We are here for you. We are here for KUVO!

Our Venues

There’s nothing like the energy of live music - where every musician shows up for us. Our local venues are the heartbeat of this experience. “Jazz Happens at Night!” Venues are where new artists find their voice, where the legends are showcased, and where the community comes together! It’s 40 years together! The stage is set!

Since 1985, KUVO has collaborated with clubs, venues, festivals and our talented community of musicians. We love creating a bridge for studio performances, interviews, on-air recordings, producing CDs, and recording sessions on You Tube. Music brings people together! It’s where connections happen!

Our Locations

1984

KUVO built its first broadcast studios at 1225 Wazee Street, which has since been renamed Auraria Parkway, across from Auraria campus. KUVO was a hidden gem, as there was no exterior signage indicating its existence. It was here that KUVO began broadcasting on August 29, 1985.

1986

We moved to the Morrison studios and celebrated KUVO’s first anniversary with a ribbon cutting with Mayor Pena, Representative Patricia Schroeder and friends. This is where we began our legacy of connecting with local and national talent.

1993

At the Federal location, we shared a building with KBDI TV, and our Media Center partnerships. On Federal, the view into the on-air studios was wide open, and we could watch every move the host made, and believe us when we tell you – there were plenty.

1994

Our partnership with KBDI extended in our move to the Five Points Media Center on Welton Street, thanks to the Piton Foundation. We established a connection to our neighbors, the jazz legacy, and made many friends – forever in our hearts!
