Nocturne is delighted to welcome acclaimed jazz trombonist Altin Sencalar and his quintet to the Nocturne stage for a special show on Saturday, December 27th. Altin will be joined by a stellar lineup, including Caleb Abbot (saxophones), Victor Mestas (piano), Seth Lewis (bass), and Zach Howarth (drums).

Altin Sencalar is a trombonist, composer, and educator blending contemporary jazz with the folkloric traditions of his Mexican and Turkish heritage. A Yamaha Performing Artist and Posi-Tone Records signee, Sencalar has performed with artists including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Christian McBride, Michael Bublé, the Temptations, and the Four Tops. Sencalar studied at Texas State University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Michigan State University.

Sencalar built his reputation touring internationally, winning major trombone competitions, and eventually joining the New York jazz scene as both a bandleader and sideman. Albums as a bandleader include In Good Standing (2023), Discover the Present (2024), and Unleashed (2025), praised by DownBeat for their emotional depth and technical prowess. Sencalar recently joined the music faculty at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
