Then at 12:45 p.m. for a separately ticketed show, Dr. Daryl Walker offers a performance that is both intellectually profound and spiritually electrifying. As the former Performing Director of the Spirituals Project at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, Dr. Walker is one of the nation’s foremost experts on the African American spiritual. His career is a unique tapestry of academic rigor and grassroots activism; he is a co-leader of No Enemies, a Denver-based collective that uses music as a tool for social justice. Walker’s approach to gospel is rooted in the belief that music is a catalyst for human rights and communal liberation.

His Gospel Brunch set will likely dive deep into the Roots of Gospel, showcasing his ability to lead a room through the historical evolution of the genre—from the fields to the modern sanctuary. Known for his powerful, soaring tenor and his skill as a pianist, Dr. Walker doesn’t just perform; he ministers.
