The Eirik Haugbro Trio joins forces with Denver trumpeter Gabriel Mervine to explore the iconic 1964 album Trio+1, recorded by Oscar Peterson Trio and Clark Terry.

Eirik Haugbro:  A Portland native, Eirik has performed with renowned artists the nationwide and is deeply influenced by the great piano trios of jazz history, drawing inspiration from the music of legends such as Ray Brown and Oscar Peterson.  Eirik studied the double bass at Western Washington University and received a master’s in jazz studies from the University of Northern Colorado. He has performed with Pedro Martins, Genevive Artadi, Michael Mayo, John Fedchock, and Ali Jackson.

Gabriel Mervine:  Gabriel Mervine began his professional playing career at the age of thirteen. He went to the University of Colorado at Boulder for Jazz Studies, but after one year, he decided to dedicate his time to becoming a working trumpet player, which would include continuing his studies privately with people such as Bobby Shew and Roger Ingram. Gabriel has performed with Natalie Cole, Christian McBride, The Clayton/Hamilton Orchestra, The Colorado Symphony, The Temptations, Terence Blanchard, Karl Denson, John Scofield, Hugh Jackman, Lonnie Smith, Russell Malone, The Who, Maceo Parker, Wycliff Gordon, Sean Jones, Roberta Gambarini, the Motet, and Houston Person while also building a strong freelance career playing everything from Mariachi to Mahler. In addition to being one of the most respected and sought-after trumpeters in Colorado, Gabriel is also a renowned bandleader, taking his ensembles on new sonic journeys with every performance.
