Community Connection: Jazzmeia Horn

I’m Tree King, host of Mid-Morning jazz
Tree King and Jazzmeia Horn

Jazzmeia Horn joined me for a special Community Connection on September 17. Named by her jazz loving grandmother, Jazzmeia Horn was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1991. She grew up in a close church-going family that sang gospel music. Jazzmeia is a talented artist whom I admire.

In 2017, she released her debut album, "A Social Call," which was nominated for a Grammy Award. She has collaborated with many musicians. The song "We Swing" is a Baylor Project song featuring Dianne Reeves and Jazzmeia.

One of my highlights from our conversation was discussing her song, "Mother's Love." The history behind that song is one I related to, and it made me reflect on my journey as both a mother and a daughter myself.
