Community Connection: Mang-Yee Reverie

I’m Tree King, host of Mid-Morning jazz
Mang-Yee Reverie

Recently, Tree sat down with a special guest: Mang-Yee Reverie, an on-air host for THE DROP, KUVO's sister station. Mang-Yee's son, who is 18 years old, recently graduated from high school. Tree's son is just about to turn 36. They talked to each other about their experiences having sons who are on the autism spectrum. For example, they talked about when Mang-Yee started noticing signs her son was different from other kids and how she handled challenges with school. The two moms celebrated how their sons are very independent and love music, work, and living life.

April is Autism Acceptance Month, which celebrates and honors the experiences and identities of individuals on the autism spectrum. It emphasizes understanding, inclusion, support, and moving beyond awareness towards meaningful acceptance. Approximately 1 in 31 children and 1 in 45 adults in the U.S. are on the autism spectrum.
