Community Voices: Judy Ham & Jared Ewy of Ability Connection Colorado

Paul Donovan with Ability Connection Colorado's CEO, Judy Ham, and Media Director, Jared Ewy

On Monday, January 26, Ability Connection Colorado's CEO, Judy Ham, and Media Director, Jared Ewy, joined Paul Donovan to talk about the organization's work and history.

The organization started in 1946 when nine mothers met in a hospital waiting room. They had all just been told their children needed to be institutionalized, and they were not having it. They dared to dream of a better life for their disabled children and forged ahead to create an organization that would help provide that.

Today, Ability Connection Colorado provides inclusive education, pathways to employment, and statewide family support programs to create opportunities and sustainable change for families across Colorado.

Coming up on February 14, Ability Connection Colorado is hosting the 32nd Great Balls of Fire 9-Ball Billiards challenge, which funds their early childhood education program. Amateur players and celebrities team up at Wynkoop Brewing Company for an afternoon of friendly competition at the pool tables. They are currently looking for people to join. Sign up at Great Balls of Fire Billiards.
