Dave Hammond and Mallory Bernstein of Education Through Music-Colorado recently joined Paul Donovan on his Community Voices segment to talk about their upcoming event.

In far too many schools, hallways, classrooms, and auditoriums have gone quiet as music has become a luxury rather than a given. Education Through Music–Colorado (ETM) exists to reverse that trend by restoring sustained, high-quality music education in under-resourced schools where it would otherwise be absent.

Education Through Music–Colorado is part of a national nonprofit network (ETM) that has grown over more than 30 years into one of the nation’s leading providers of comprehensive, in-school music programs, reaching more than 300,000 students nationwide.

Today, ETM-Colorado reaches more than 4,000 students across the Denver metropolitan area through direct, in-school music instruction, educator professional development and coaching, and extracurricular learning opportunities that help young people build confidence, creativity, and a deeper sense of belonging.

On April 23 at 5:30 PM, Education Through Music–Colorado will present The Call of Music at Number Thirty Eight in Denver’s RiNo Art District—an evening where live music, community, and generosity come together to support music education in under-resourced public schools across Colorado.

The night will feature MTN LION, a funk collective powered by members of Lettuce and The Motet. Inspired by the solitary strength and wild spirit of the mountain lion, the project channels deep grooves, soulful guitar lines, and fearless improvisation into a sound that is powerful, exploratory, and built for movement and connection.

Guests will enjoy live music, exceptional food and drinks, a thoughtfully curated auction featuring unique items and experiences, and the presentation of the ETM-CO Community Impact Award, honoring champions of social, cultural, and business leadership whose vision and service inspire our students and uplift our community.

Tickets are available for individuals, couples, and tables for eight—perfect for friends, families, or company teams. Answer the call. Let it echo back in our schools.
