Band and Orchestra students at Westminster High School showing some of their instruments received through the Bringing Music to Life Instrument Drive.

Steve Holley, Executive Director of Bringing Music to Life, stopped by for Paul Donovan’s Community Voices segment. For more than 15 years, Bringing Music to Life has helped expand access to music education across Colorado. The organization has distributed over 9,500 instruments to 360 schools, impacting more than 25,000 students. They collect gently used instruments, clean and repair them, and place them directly into the hands of students in Title I and under-resourced school music programs.

Steve talked about the organization's annual Spring Instrument Drive. Each spring, the organization hosts its collects more than 1,000 instruments for the drive. After collection, repair partners restore the instruments that are then matched and distributed to K–12 programs in time for the next school year. The 2026 Spring Instrument Drive runs March 23 through April 5, with 18 drop-off locations statewide. Listeners can donate a gently used instrument or learn more at Bringing Music to Life.
