Fred Hersch

Join host Andy O' for an intimate and insightful conversation with fifteen-time Grammy nominee Fred Hersch, a pervasively influential force in the jazz piano pantheon.

In this in-depth interview, Hersch delves into the philosophy of his craft, comparing the delicate art of jazz improvisation to a "flow state" or meditation. He shares stories from his extensive career, including his recent collaborative efforts and personal reflections on his groundbreaking memoir, Good Things Happen Slowly, which chronicles his journey as a pioneering figure in the jazz community.

From his early development in Cincinnati to his status as a master educator and composer, Hersch explores how "musical storytelling in real time" remains at the heart of his artistic expression.

Fred Hersch will perform at the Denver Jazz Fest on Sunday, April 12, at 7 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center.
