Eats & Beats: SAME Café Feeds Colorado Through Community Contribution

Amelia Warriner, the social media, marketing, and partnerships administrator at SAME Café

On a cocktail napkin almost 20 years ago, Brad & Libby Birky brainstormed a concept for a restaurant that acts as an ecosystem: those that come in for a meal can give back in whatever way they can, through time, money, or produce. The goal was to create community through healthy food access by using this participation model which invites folks to pay it forward while pulling out a chair at the table for a hot meal.

So All May Eat or SAME Café since 2006 has been serving up a menu of the day, cooked using produce sourced from local neighborhood food producers. Alongside they also offer free job training and outreach that doubles as either catering for events or providing vital emergency response through food. Amelia Warriner, the social media, marketing, and partnerships administrator at SAME Café stopped in to share more about their café fueled by community contribution on Eats & Beats.
