Freedom, Justice and Hope from Bryan Stevenson and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra

On January 8, the 2025 Jazz Congress heard from attorney Bryan Stevenson, who founded the Equal Justice Initiative, and who also plays piano. From his background defending death row inmates and building the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama, he brought poignant remarks about the role of music in the struggle for racial justice.

Parts of this feature also come from his collaboration with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra on their 2024 project called Freedom, Justice and Hope.
