Almost sixty years ago, the jazz world was rocked by the LP “El Sonido Nuevo-The New Soul Sound,” a collaboration between the late vibraphonist Cal Tjader and pianist Eddie Palmieri with Eddie’s “La Perfecta” orchestra featuring the unique aggressive trombone styling of the late Barry Rogers. Now, Eddie and his guests revisit the landmark 1966 album in the last chapter of “Caliente Latin Jazz with Eddie Palmieri,” co-hosted by Carlos Lando.
This series, produced by KUVO Jazz, was first broadcast in 2006 on over 200 stations. KUVO JAZZ decided to bring it back in celebration of our 40th Anniversary.
