Tune in! The Pec Legacy Day On-Air Lineup: Live from the Pec!

This Thursday KUVO celebrates the Legacy of El Chapultepec by broadcasting recordings made during live broadcasts in the early 1990s.

In July of 1991, KUVO set up in the second booth of Denver’s favorite jazz hangout and broadcast live jazz as it was happening, late into the night.

Throughout the day, you’ll hear some historic segments from those broadcasts, featuring KUVO hosts, friends and the musicians themselves, including Freddy Rodriguez Sr., the Eric Gunnison Quartet, Manfredo Fest (with John Gunther, Bruno Carr, Ken Walker and Eric Gunnison), Phil Urso (with Andy Weyl, Mark Diamond and Chris Lee), and Red Holloway.

Later in the evening, KUVO will air two full hours of archived live recordings, as they were originally broadcast from the second booth at The ‘Pec.

12 noon, Freddy Rodriguez (Jr.) and the Jazz Connection will perform LIVE from the Bonfils-Stanton Performance Studio. Be sure to listen in.
8:00 p.m., we’ll hear Eric Gunnison Quartet (with Gunther, Carr, Walker), originally airing on July 7, 1991 and hosted by Carlos Lando.
9:00 p.m., KUVO will re-air an hour from a live remote broadcast just a few weeks later featuring the Freddy Rodriguez Band with special guest Javon Jackson (who was just 26 at the time).

A special premium for donors on “The ‘Pec Legacy Day” is the limited edition t-shirt produced by the Krantz Family and The El Chapultepec Foundation.

Don’t miss these vintage broadcasts from the glory days of The ‘Pec, re-broadcast as it was heard live more than 30 years ago, this Thursday on listener-supported KUVO JAZZ – your Oasis in the City.
