Vinyl Vault: Reuben Wilson, “Love Bug”
This week on the Vinyl Vault, we’ll have some classic late ‘60s jazz-funk from organist Reuben Wilson and his album “Love Bug.” The record was released in 1969 on Blue Note Records.
This was the second album under Wilson’s name, and it featured some of Blue Note’s best players of the era. Lee Morgan played trumpet, George Coleman was on tenor sax, Grant Green played guitar, and Leo Morris was the drummer.
The album comprises equal parts Wilson originals and covers of some of the pop songs of the day. The playing on all the tracks is tight, groovy, and funky.
Join host Geoff Anderson for Reuben Wilson’s “Love Bug” on the next Vinyl Vault, on Tuesday, September 9, at 8:30 p.m. on KUVO JAZZ.
