Vince Wilburn Jr., nephew of late jazz icon Miles Davis, and I had so much fun during our recent Community Connection conversation. I don't remember laughing so much during an interview! We talked about when he came to realize his uncle wasn’t just a musician – he was a jazz legend. Vince shared how Miles would listen to his band over the phone and critique them, and how it had such an impact on his musicianship.

I'm sure many Miles Davis fans will appreciate the fact that he liked to paint and was an excellent chef.

Vince was the executive producer for Miles Ahead, an American biographical-drama film about Miles Davis. The film was directed by Colorado's own Don Cheadle. I learned that Vince was also the executive producer for a documentary about his uncle called Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool, which was narrated by Carl Lumbly.

I was honored to have this interview. It was truly a good time.
