Community Voices: Dan Klehm of Convict Coffee Company
Join KUVO JAZZ host, Paul Donovan, as he hosts the founder of Convict Coffee Company, Dan Klehm, on Community Voices on Monday, August 18, at 4 pm.
Raised in a chaotic environment, Dan turned to crime at the age of 13 when he left home. For the next ten years, he was incarcerated as often as he was free. Finally, while locked up in a state penitentiary, his first son was born. With a new purpose upon his release, Dan found a home in the restaurant industry, moving up the chain to management and eventually becoming the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for several national and regional brands.
Dan's family all decided that they wanted to create a new kind of restaurant that provides "coffee for the rest of us," a place with a vibe that serves coffee with conviction. A place with music that blows your mind, has exciting things happening, and where real people are not reading a script.
Their mission is to impact the community by supporting programs that keep kids out of trouble and rehabilitate non-violent felons, so they don't reoffend. They also want to provide franchise opportunities for offenders who have rehabilitated and want to change their lives, and to create a place where respect is shown to everyone, employees and guests alike.
