Live & Local: Branford Marsalis

Branford Marsalis Quartet

KUVO JAZZ and Newman Center present the Branford Marsalis Quartet: The Belonging Tour at the Newman Center on Friday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Leading the Branford Marsalis Quartet, he continues to push the boundaries of jazz while maintaining a deep respect for its traditions. Marsalis' impact extends far beyond jazz—he has collaborated with orchestras, composed for Broadway, and toured with iconic artists such as Sting and the Grateful Dead.

GRAMMY®-winning saxophonist Branford Marsalis has earned global acclaim for his virtuosic mastery, solidifying his place as one of the most influential saxophonists in contemporary music.

The Morning Set's Carlos Lando spoke with Branford Marsalis via phone ahead of their stop in Denver, touring with their new album Belonging. Check out their conversation below around the new record, the quartet's chamber-like style, and modern jazz's focus on soloing verses the function each instrument holds in the band setting.
