Frank Ayala of Mistura Fina

Denver percussionist Frank Ayala’s roots go deep in Denver. His branches reach around the world through his band ventures over the years.

He played various percussion instruments with the band Bridges in the 1990s. His current band, Mistura Fina (“fine mixture” in Spanish), celebrates 25 years with a set on September 17 at Dazzle.

Ayala, inducted into the Chicano Music Hall of Fame in 2020, visited The Morning Set to share his passion for global musical styles that stretch from Spain to Uruguay and beyond.
