Live on KUVO: The Eric Benny Bloom Quartet streams on YouTube, Twitch Thursday 3/13/25 at 11 a.m.
The Eric Benny Bloom Quartet appears on KUVO's YouTube and Twitch channels this Thursday, March 13 at 11 a.m. You know him from Lettuce, and now Colorado is home base for his various trumpet adventures.
Originally from Bristol, R.I., Eric Bloom studied at William Paterson University, New England Conservatory of Music, and City College of New York on his way to becoming one of the most diverse trumpet players on the scene.
With the acclaimed funk band Lettuce since 2011, Eric has lived in New Orleans and now calls Colorado home. His television credits cover the late night spectrum (Craig Ferguson, Carson Daly, Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman, Conan O’Brien) and morning shows (NBC’s “Today Show”). He has toured the world.
His mantle has a Grammy Award from work on Jon Cleary’s 2015 release “Go Go Juice.”
Bloom’s accompaniments include a wide diversity of artists, from hip-hop (Schoolboy Q, RZA, Talib Kweli), to rock (Ben Folds, Rikki Lee Jones, & Tedeschi Trucks Band), to soul (Chaka Kahn, Bernie Worrell, Solange Knowles, Maceo Parker, The Meters), to jam bands (Bob Weir, Dave Matthews Band), to roots (Dr. John), to fusion (Questlove, Meshell Ndegeocello), to blues (Taj Mahal, Gary Clark Jr.), to straight up jazz (Christian McBride, Preservation Hall, John Scofield, Dr. Lonnie Smith) to whatever.
On this session, the band includes Bloom at trumpet and vocals, Tom Amend on piano, Hunter Roberts on bass, and Braxton Kahn on drums.
