Celebrating the rich history of Denver’s “Harlem of the West” was the 12th Annual Five Points Jazz Festival on Saturday May 16th.

KUVO broadcasted live from our booth adjacent to the Joe Bonner Main Stage.

This year’s Five Points Jazz Festival boasted eight stages serving up 30 groups.

A Lifetime Achievement Award for significant contributions to the development and appreciation of jazz and blues in Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood and beyond was presented to honor KUVO host  of All Blues and accomplished blues musician, Sammy Mayfield. The late versatile KUVO on air host  Jimmy Trujillo was honored twice, first the Five Points Plaza Stage was renamed the Jimmy Trujillo Stage and a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award was given to his parents, Ernest and Rayma Trujillo. Finally the world class pianist Joe Bonner who called Denver his home since the early 1980’s was also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously as well as having the main stage rechristened in his memory.
