The many splendid varieties of Spring continue to arrive to The Oasis, this week  we’re pleased to debut the new one by the swingin’-soulful veteran pianist from Memphis, Harold Mabern. For his latest release out on the Smoke Sessions Records label, Mr. Mabern features a stellar line up of accompanists along with an all-star line up of guest vocalists. On Afro Blue Harold features Gregory Porter, Kurt Elling, Norah Jones, among others. David Sanborn’s latest, Time and The River is another entertaining outing by the versatile saxophonist, although mostly instrumental, two tracks feature guest singers, the popular Randy Crawford appears as does the former Tower of Power singer, the talented Larry Braggs. The New Orleans Jazz and heritage Fest will be taking place soon and to get us in the mood we premiere trumpeter-vocalist Kermit Ruffins and The Barbecue Swingers, another solid effort for Basin Street Records titled I’m So New Orleans as #imsoneworleans.

Making its first time out airplay will be a joyful Latin tribute to Le Hot Jazz by Concert Master violinist Federico Britos and his Hot Club of the Americas, When Grappelli Meets Latin America re-imagines Gypsy jazz as swinging Latin music. Finally, we’ll bust out with a new piano tribute to Tony Bennett and 2 new ones by 2 exciting sax men, 1 from Dallas and 1 from Illinois.

We’ll begin at Noon on Lunchtime at The Oasis. Celebrating our 30th Anniversary!
