interview with Shawn Palmer, members of The Junk Band Orchestra

The Junk Band Orchestra builds their instruments from junk.  It’s about young people redeeming broken things.  Producer Shawn Palmer and a couple of members from the band visited “First Take with Lando and Chavis” with news of their first CD release.

“We’re out to prove you don’t need a lot of money to make really good music,” said Palmer.   “The music coming from the musician – that’s the most important thing.”

On this audio feature, Junk Band Orchestra bassist Cole Stucz demonstrated the acoustic sound of a three-string bass made from an empty five-gallon water jug and a piece of 2×4.  Other instruments are demonstrated, too.   The JBO strives to spend less than $25 on every instrument they reclaim or build.
