interview with Federico Pena

At the grand opening of the Union Station Transit Center in Denver, former mayor Federico Pena visited the live KUVO broadcast booth.  ”Now we’re seeing the results of the hard work of thousands of entrepreneurs, citizens and risk-takers who believe in the vision,” said Pena, who served as mayor of Denver from 1983 to 1991.  He was elected on the slogan “Imagine a Great City.”

Pena, who also served in the Clinton administration as Secretary of Transportation and Secretary of Energy, introduced a panel discussion for the Regional Transportation District that morning on “public  - private partnerships,” known as P3s.

The $500 million transit hub was developed with a variety of financing, demonstrating the public – private model.

Pena now works in the private sector as a principal with private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners in Denver.
