A special note from Canción Mexican host Debra Gallegos:
“As I was preparing my show for Canción Mexicana, I found a wonderful CD that was recorded by the children of famous Mexican musicians like Pedro Infante, Javier Solis, Lola Beltran and more. That CD, Herencia Mexicana, was dedicated to their parents who gave them the gift of music as their heritage. That CD sent me on an adventure to find other families who have supported and mentored their children, siblings, cousins, and relatives living and working in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado.”

“Somos Familia / We Are Family”

Our Labor Day edition of Canción Mexicana on Sunday, September 6, from 9 am to 1 pm, will celebrate family with music and memories. Our first hour during Epoca Dorada (our tribute to Classics performed during the Golden Age of Mexican music) will feature music from musicians with names like Infante, the Beltran, and Solis. We’ll still have plenty of classics by Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Los Tres Ases, and Chavela Vargas and Los Tesoros de San Antonio.

Our next three hours of New Mexico, Tejano and Colorado music will be filled with other family musicians with names like Jimenez, Hurricane, Hernandez, Sanchez, Quintanilla, Ramos, Lobato, Vela, Pulido, Cordova, and so many more.

We’ll be singing and dancing as one great big Canción Mexicana Family!

Tune in to Canción Mexicana on Sunday, September 6, from 9am to 1pm por un gran celebración de familia!
