Featuring Brad Goode, Rico Jones, Eric Gunnison, Ken Walker, and Harold Sumney. The proceeds from this concert will be donated to Al Hood’s GoFundMe page to help offset medical expenses and his recovery. An in-demand saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator, Bobby Watson has built a long and lasting musical legacy throughout the years. His musical associations include Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Wynton Marsalis, Sam Rivers, Max Roach, and many more. A prolific force in the jazz world as a leader of highly-acclaimed groups such as Horizon, a quintet with drummer Victor Lewis and bassist Curtis Landy, and a nine-piece band called the High Court of Swing (a tribute group to Johnny Hodges). Beyond his passionate and lyrical playing, Watson is known as a world-class educator, having most recently developed and led the prestigious jazz program at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Today, Watson balances a busy professional life of teaching and performing in clubs, festivals, and performing arts centers across the world.
