We’re excited to announce the premiere of KUVO JAZZ’s new morning show “The Morning Set” hosted by Carlos Lando! The show will premiere on Monday, March 28, just in time for spring, airing weekday mornings, Monday through Friday from 7 am to 10 am on KUVO JAZZ 89.3 FM and KUVO.ORG.

Carlos Lando has had a long-term relationship with the station. He was a listener of KUVO JAZZ back in its infancy in 1986 while working at KBCO in Boulder. He started working for KUVO in March of 1987 as the station’s Program Director and has hosted various programs during his tenure here. Carlos has been KUVO’s General Manager since 2012.

During the pandemic, the GM had done some reflecting on KUVO JAZZ; where it came from and where it’s going, and decided it was time for a reset.

“There’s a lot of things that we love doing and there’s a lot more that we want to accomplish, and I wanted to be in a position to make that happen, and in radio, the morning show is the catalyst for everything we do throughout the day,” says Lando.

Carlos will be dusting off the mic and getting his on-air voice ready for The Morning Set. The show will be a haven for our morning-time KUVO audience and will capture new listeners looking for a hybrid of content to start the day.

The Morning Set will play an eclectic mix of the jazz spectrum – from traditional sounds to new hits, Latin jazz, blues, soul, funk, and all that’s in between. Along with the tunes to start your day, The Morning Set will highlight the arts & culture and food scenes right here in Denver and beyond, tell stories from our very own community members, include jazz history to stay on top of our music education, and will provide a new way that our listeners and supporters can connect with KUVO – instantaneously!

“We want to be sure that we have opened up our communication channels in order to encourage and be there for people who want to be part of something bigger than themselves. In other words, if you are into music then help us get the music out there, if you are into the visual arts, then help us tell your story. That’s the whole point, is to tell the story with many voices,” says Carlos.

During The Morning Set, you’ll hear from multiple backgrounds that will offer a wide array of perspectives that inform KUVO’s vision and how it portrays community, culture, and music.

Tune in to the premiere of The Morning Set on Monday, March 28, from 7 am to 10 am, airing weekday mornings, Monday through Friday on KUVO JAZZ 89.3!
