In the over 2 years since The Jazz River launched, we’ve taken 131 different trips along it, with dozens of thematic shows, some of which you may have missed or wanted to hear again. So, for the next 5 weeks—interrupted by our June Pledge drive dates—I am going to revisit and update some of the past shows I think you’ll enjoy hearing again, or for the first time. I’m leaving the final two dates open because I want you to write or text into the station your requests for which shows should like to be aired again. The text line is 303-291-0666 and the email is studio@kuvo.org. All shows are at the new time of 7 pm. The first three will be:

The Dark Magic of The Duende (May 15)

When Fusion Was Young (May 22)

My East in Your West—Jazz and India (May 29)

Tune in this Sunday when The Jazz River goes to Andalusian part of Spain and explores the mysteries of the Duende, “that power everyone feels and no philosopher can explain.” Best found in Flamenco that complex art form of poetry/singing, music, dance, polyrhythms and a form of controlled ‘hell raising,’ the show takes you deep into what the Duende means, the intimacy and sensuality, the power and the longing it evokes. Some say the Duende is Soul.

Come hear for yourself at 7 pm on Sunday, May 15. Only on The Jazz River and KUVO JAZZ.
