2022 was certainly quite a year. Some news brought us great joy, others…not so much. But for all the sometimes unbelievable events of the past year, one thing was for sure, it was full of great music.

2022 seemed to be the year of the compilation, with Peru Selvatico which took us on a psychedelic trip to the Amazon, and one of the best studies of Cumbia Rebajada, Saturno 2000 put out by Analog Africa and DJ Lengua.

2022 was also a great year for buried treasure as labels like VampiSoul, Matasuna, and Las Palmas, among others, dusted off hard-to-fine vintage gems like Los Kenya, Los Kintos, and Conjunto Ingeniera.

We were also treated to brand new albums from Super Sonido favorites Caloncho, Fernando Milagros, Julieta Venegas, and Maricuir, not to mention local favorite Jozer G!

While 2022 may have had its ups and downs the steady stream of incredible music got us through.

So put on your yellow underwear and join Super Sonido host La Molly on Sunday, January 1, at 4 pm as we countdown the very best in Latinx alternative music that 2022 had to offer!
