Join us on Saturdays in April as the Derek Banach Quintet explores the music of one of the most iconic ensembles in jazz history: Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. A driving force of the hard-bop style of the 1950s through the 80s, and a springboard for some of the music’s most celebrated composers and performers, the Jazz Messengers is synonymous with the sound of jazz in the second half of the 20th century. This residency will feature compositions from Bobby Timmons and Benny Golson to Mulgrew Miller and Bobby Watson.
The Derek Banach Quintet includes Jeremy Wendelin (saxophones), Dave Hanson (piano), Andrew Rose (bass), and Todd Reid (drums).
