On Sunday, January 27, at 4 pm, tune in to KUVO’s performance series “On Stage” when we profile one of the “fixture” ensembles on the Colorado jazz scene, “Convergence.”

Convergence is a supergroup of Colorado-based players, with the core of Mark Simon and Paul Romaine on bass and drums, Eric Gunnison at piano and Mark Patterson at trombone. John Gunther is often on reeds when Convergence takes the stage. We’ll go back to sessions in 2004 with Greg Gisbert adding trumpet lines.  In 2007, Convergence gathered with Pete Gallio on tenor sax and Scott Wenholdt on trumpet. These are sessions with mostly original compositions from Gunther, Gunnison, Patterson, and Simon!

KUVO’s archive program of classic, local broadcast performances is hosted by Susan Gatschet. Don’t’ miss “On Stage” every Sunday afternoon at 4 pm, only on KUVO Jazz!

Join “Convergence” for a live in-studio recording session at Mighty Fine Productions on Sunday, April 7 at 3:30 pm. Convergence is dedicated to the idea of sharing the intimacy and the spark of improvised music with their audience. Be a part of this very special evening as the group records a new set of original music. See the creative process in action, and when you listen back to the recording you’ll say “that’s my hands all over that record that I dug down at Mighty Fine.” Get Tickets!
