One hundred years after she was born, Billie Holiday’s impact on jazz remains indisputably strong.

To celebrate Holiday’s centennial, Jazz Night In America presents Cassandra Wilson – in concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. – performing her take on the classics sung by “Lady Day” herself.

Wilson’s latest project is a new album rearranging The Billie Holiday Songbook. Titled Coming Forth By Day, the album reshapes songs like “Good Morning Heartache” and “Strange Fruit” with fresh texture and resonance.

Don’t miss Jazz Night in America’s live webcast Wednesday at 7 pm MT or tune in to KUVO Saturday at 10 pm MT to hear the show rebroadcast!
