After Labor Day it is a music industry tradition to release the best recordings in preparation for the end of the year gift giving days. Our first New Music Monday edition after the end of the summer holiday weekend will feature an amazing group of CDs making their premiere. 

Donald Harrison who recently performed at our annual Jazz at the Vineyards event has become the newest member of the all-star veterans group, The Cookers who release their 3rd album, Time and Time Again, a collection of originals all penned by the members of this outstanding ensemble with over 250 years of combined experience!  Drummer Gerry Gibbs, son of legendary vibist Terry, is back with his Thrasher Dream Trio for 14 jazz interpretations of R&B classics in We’re Back, besides Ron Carter and Kenny Barron, the trio features guests Warren Wolf, Larry Goldings and Steve Wilson. Veteran vocalist Roseanna Vitro launches a tribute to the late pianist-composer Clare Fischer, Clarity on which she adds her personal arrangements to some of the songs.

In addition we will share new music by pianist Billy Childs with his Map to the Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro, the great songwriter from the 1970s, the Stanley Clarke Band ‘s Up,  Jason Moran’s latest is a tribute to Fats Waller-All Rise and Saxophonist Mark Turner who will be performing at Dazzle later this month adds Lathe of Heaven to his discography. Finally at the 20th Annual Vail Jazz Party last week Ann Hampton Callaway wowed the audience with her tribute to Sarah Vaughan, From Sassy to Divine, the CD is ready to be presented this Monday from Noon until 1pm on your Oasis in the City.

“Lunchtime at the Oasis” with host Arturo Gomez, KUVO Music Director is the perfect escape for listeners. The lunch menu includes jazz classics, new jazz releases, Latin jazz and occasional birthday tributes. It’s an hour packed with finger-snapping and toe-tapping delights for your ears. Special features include New Music Mondays, CD of the Month Club, and special celebration tributes.
