Originally a brainchild of local promoter/manager Lonny Gray and the marketing hub Entertainment by 1600 in 2009, the 5280 Urban Music Awards has since become one of the biggest platforms for independent artists in Denver.

Throughout its first five showings, the 5280 Urban Music Awards has recognized hundreds of independent artists. The inaugural event was held at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center with preceding year’s hosted at Red Lion Hotel, Paramount Theatre, City Hall Amphitheatre, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom and now, Denver’s historic Gothic Theatre.
