This is an unsettling time in our communities, as the number of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Colorado grows and more health and safety measures are put into place. We here at KUVO want to let you know we hear you; the daily updates can seem scary and there is conflicting information about the best methods for prevention and treatment. The Rocky Mountain Public Media family is taking the proactive step of canceling all of our upcoming community events, including those of KUVO Jazz and The Drop. We are working with our concert partners to see if some performances can be recorded and shared on KUVO to reduce social gatherings in the next few weeks. We’ll be reaching out with more information as new schedules are set.

Many of the event cancellations and recommendations for social distancing are out of an abundance of caution, to help prevent the person-to-person spread of the disease. These preventative measures are strongly recommended to greatly reduce the potential number of coronavirus cases, here is more information about how simple prevention can slow the spread.

There are confirmed cases all over Colorado, and in the Denver Metro area.  The World Health Organization has labeled the rising number of confirmed cases a “pandemic”, here’s what that means and what they recommend Americans should do: Click here. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also provided information about the best prevention methods and what scientists know about the disease.
