July keeps rolling along with festivals in Longmont and Winter Park, along with sounds in Crested Butte. The 36th edition of the Winter Park Jazz Festival in Hideaway Park on Saturday and Sunday is a crossover event with artists such as Sheila E, saxophonists Boney James and Eric Darius and guitarist Norman Brown. The festivities begin both days at 11 a.m. and run until 6 p.m. (crestedbuttemusicfestival.org).

Also on Saturday, the 20th edition of the Longmont Jazz Festival brings sounds to 5th Avenue in downtown from 11 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. It’s a solid lineup of area-based talent that kicks off with the Longmont All-Star Jazz Band, followed by Joe Smith and the Spicy Pickles; singer Robert Johnson and the Mark Diamond Trio; guitarist Steve Kovalcheck’s trio; Mistura Fina; Fat City Mardi Gras Band; and Ritmo Jazz Latino (longmontjazz.com).

Then the musical weekends in Crested Butte with gypsy jazz with southern spices drawn from Latin and South America at the Center for the Arts, 606 6th St., at 8 p.m. The sounds of the music so associated with guitarist Django Reinhardt make several appearances at this year’s Crested Butte Music Festival (crestedbuttemusicfestival.org).

Back in Denver, Dazzle, 1512 Curtis, has Cuban drummer Calixto Oviedo’s Cuban Train group on stage starting at 7 p.m. on Friday (303-839-5100). On Saturday has an adventurous-sounding group called Triptych with violinist Zach Brock (connected to the popular group Snarky Puppy), drummer Matt Ulery and bassist Jon Deitemyer. Triptych plays at 7 p.m. followed by funk/rockish sounds from Float Like a Buffalo at 9:30 p.m. On Tuesday, Dazzle in the historic Baur’s Building gets the party going with the Lowdown Brass Band at 6:30 and 9 p.m.

Returning to the mountains, the Vail Festival’s Thursday-night sessions in the Vail tent continues with the Django Festival All-Stars at 6 p.m. (vailjazz.org). In Aspen, Jazz Aspen Snowmass’ JAS Café series also hosts the Django Festival All-Stars on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Temporary (jazzaspensnowmass.org). On July 27-28, the JAS Café series has a sold-out show worth begging for tickets – pianist Emmet Cohen and Christian Sands cookin’ together at the Aspen Cooking School.

Back in town, KUVO has saxophonist Rico Jones live in the studio on Friday from 7 until 8 p.m. – and remember that KUVO’s Live at the Vineyards event is coming up before you know it with the Spanish Harlem Orchestra providing the musical treats to get your feet moving.

Friday finds pianist Neil Bridge with singer Karen Lee at La Cour, 1643 S. Broadway, at 7 p.m. (303-777-5000). And, among other things, La Cour Art Bar, has the duo of Reggie Berg and Paul Musso on stage on Tuesday. All of the music at la Cour starts at 7 p.m. Over at Nocturne, 1330 27th St., the club’s full-plate of music continues and that includes the bebop revival that pays tribute to the famed Royal Roost club on Friday starting at 7 p.m. (303-295-3333). And on Sunday, City Park Jazz has Mistura Fina on stage at 6 p.m.
