Over the next year, the Denver Art Museum will be working with four local Latino artists to create installations inspired by pre-Columbian and Spanish Colonial galleries.  Kicking off the “Cuatro” exhibition, celebrated Chicano artist and native Denverite Carlos Frésquez.  Visual arts consultant Hilary DePolo interviewed her friend Frésquez for the July edition of the regular KUVO feature “Art Scene.”

In the extended interview posted below, they discuss his inspiration for his installation, and the roots of his Chicano identity, and more.  Frésquez has exhibited his drawings, prints, installations and paintings in at least 30 U.S. states and in over a dozen different countries.

Watch the artist install his work on Friday, July 8, and you can interact with the artist on July 12 and August 2.  Details at www.denverartmuseum.org.
