Her 2013 debut album caused quite a stir among jazz fans, reviewers and musicians,  Cécile McLorin Salvant returns with For One To Love, another solid recording showing off the variety of styles within Cécile’s vocal prowess. San Francisco Bay Area pianist Jim Martinez grew up a fan of Vince Guaraldi’s piano and of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters, after visiting the Schulz Museum of nearby Santa Rosa, he opted to record Good Grief!: A Tribute to Guaraldi, Schulz and Peanuts.

Also on the last New Music Monday edition of July, we’ll debut the Rodriguez Brothers’ Impromptu for the Criss Cross label. Michael on trumpet and his brother Robert on piano were raised in Miami but have been busy in the capital of jazz, New York since relocated there several years ago, they close out their latest by having their father Roberto join them on the drums.  Mandolin player David Grissman release a 2-disc set recorded live at Seattle’s Jazz Alley, recording for Colorado’s own Tapestry records is the Jeff Benedict Big Big Band, redundancy intended, their debut Holmes swing swings! We also have new sounds from sax man, Joe Manis,  pianist Johannes Wallmann and singer Candice Hoyes in an impressive maiden voyage.
