Colorado is one of the most accessible states in the union, says Rachel Stafford, with the Rocky Mountain ADA Center.  She joined the KUVO morning show “First Take with Lando and Chavis” from the National ADA Symposium in downtown Denver.

“We’re (also) happy to report the City and County of Denver is top notch in terms of accessibility.”

Even more than 25 years after the ADA went into force in 1990, accommodations are not always in place.  While “everyone’s heart is in the right place, we’re seeing still a lot of application fall short.”  For example, says Stafford, “state and local governments (still) need to make all their programs accessible.”

In the audio segment posted below, Stafford guides us through modern terms and which phrases to avoid, like “handicapped.”
