Dr. Ed Cannava’s DJC Youth All-Stars Retirement Party

For the past 14 years, Dr. Ed Cannava has directed the Denver Jazz Club Youth All Stars. This long-running youth band specialized in traditional jazz styles. Since 2009, they’ve appeared at festivals and events around the U.S. and overseas including the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy in July 2022. As of August 1st, 2023, Dr. Ed Cannava is retiring from the role of directing the band. This will close the book on the DJC Youth All-Stars – their last performance being held at the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars “One Last Time” party celebration. Dr. Ed Cannava joined us on The Morning Set today to talk about the legacy of this youth band and to reminisce on his many years working with young musicians here in Denver.

The Denver Jazz Club Youth All Stars invites the community to attend, and/or perform at their Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars “One Last Time” party celebration. This includes all past and present student musicians; alumni; families; professional musicians who have provided clinics for, and/or performed with, the band; and all those who have supported the band over the past 14 years.
