Since 1976, Carmine Lonardo’s Italian Meat Deli has been serving handmade sausages, meatballs, sandwiches, salads, catered platters, and more to generations of Coloradans. When you enter their front door, a stocked specialty grocery section leads to an almost wall-to-wall display cabinet filled with cut meats, a variety of pasta and potato salads, desserts, fresh-baked rolls, and other prepared foods rotated daily. Carmine Lonardo opened up the deli at 7585 W Florida Ave in Lakewood 48 years ago and you can just feel the love and history in the walls.

The family-run meat market focuses on making and providing sausages which are popular with not only with the public, but with many local mom & pop restaurants too. Over the years, the traditional menu has been built upon all while still honoring the same Italian flavors and cooking philosophy instilled by Carmine and his wife years ago. I visited Carmine Lonardo’s Deli this week to hear some of the stories his son Carmine Jr. and daughter Maria had to share about their years working alongside their parents and 3 other siblings back in the early days of the deli. Now they carry on their legacy, running this iconic community staple. This week on Eats & Beats, we featured Carmine Lonardo’s Italian Meat Deli. Below are highlights from this conversation.

Menus can be found on Carmine Lonardo’s Italian Meat Deli’s website. You can follow them on facebook too!
