Nashville (formerly Denver) based, Americana, rock, and folk, singer-songwriter Andy Sydow is a jack-of-all-trades. As an accomplished multi-instrumentalist whose lyrics paint a picture of poetic realism, Sydow tours consistently both solo and with a backing band. He draws comparisons to voices like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, mixed with a roots rock vibe reminiscent of Tom Petty or Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. For this show, however, Sydow is performing with a string quartet and French horn, providing cinematic interpretations of his original music, plus a couple of favorite covers.

The project started in 2020 after finishing a certificate in orchestration and composition for film & TV from Berklee Online. Sydow decided to put his new skills to good use and arrange some of his songs for a full symphony. “I didn’t think about how I would perform these songs for people until I had already written the arrangements. It was then that I realized that to present this project live, I would have to cut the instrumentation down significantly!” Sydow ended up re-writing the arrangements for a string quartet and French horn. In August of 2022, he recorded his string quartet + french horn arrangements with local musicians at Mighty Fine Studios in Denver, CO. The session turned into an album titled, Measure 1: Orchestral Arrangements by Andy Sydow.

This show will mark the first time that this ensemble has performed this music live. It will also serve as the vinyl release show for Measure 1.
