The Black American West Museum & Heritage Center together with Denver film maker, donnie l. betts (lowercase is intentional) presents a free movie afternoon showcasing two influential figures and their impact on both the arts and medical fields and on Saturday June 29.

“Music is My Life, Politics My Mistress: The Story of Oscar Brown, Jr”., (OBJ) reviews the life of a musician, writer, poet, playwright, and civil rights activist.

“Two Strikes: Dr. Justina Ford” by RMPS which features the first Black female physician licensed to practice in Colorado in particular Colorado’s ethnic community her general practice included pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology.

donnie l. betts will host the event with a Q&A session and in addition produced and directed the film about Oscar Brown.
