Fiestas Patrias kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month in Colorado Springs
Join Viva Marketing for a free, family-friendly event at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, as we celebrate Fiesta Patrias along with Colorado’s diverse Hispanic origins.
This is the first year that Colorado Springs will be honoring Mexico’s patriotic holiday with a large celebration.
The day’s festivities will include food trucks, a car show, dancing, and a children’s activity area, as well as live music performed by Los Cuates, Carmen Jara, Gerardo Coronel, and more.
Additionally, a free breakfast burrito will be available for all military active duty and veterans thanks to Healing Heroes. Burritos will be available from 7 am-9 am at the Pioneers Museum Pavilion.
Event coordinators are expecting Fiestas Patrias to draw more than 10,000 attendees from Colorado and neighboring states to the city for the celebration. Visit fiestaspatriascolorado.com for more information about the event.
Fiestas Patrias—On September 16, 1810 – Mexican Independence from Spain became Fiestas Patrias (Patriotic Festival), a patriotic holiday in Mexico, much like the 4th of July. Fiestas Patrias is also known as The Grito, or “The Cry”, and is widely celebrated all over Mexico today. Today, thousands of people attend annual Fiestas Patrias events in cities across the United States.
