Sam Harris is a pianist and composer living in Colorado Springs. He has worked extensively as a sideman with artists like Ambrose Akinmusire, Melissa Aldana, and Logan Richardson. His trio with Martin Nevin and Craig Weinrib has played together for ten years, releasing Sam’s debut album, Interludes, in 2014, and performing together on Martin’s debut album, Tenderness Is Silent, in 2017. In 2018, they released HARMONY, a collection of ambient blues meditations, garnering acclaim in the New York Times, The Wire Magazine, and Nextbop.com.
“Is it a brilliantly assembled suite of compositions for trio, or a loose, 30-minute improvisation? Either way, it’s low, dark and beautiful. And it feels like a guarantee that we’ll be talking about the pianist Sam Harris for a long time.”
– Giovanni Russonello writing about HARMONY, for New York Times’ “Best Jazz of 2018”
